Acrylic Pen Turning

Saturday, April 26, 12 AM - 5 PM

This is a great introduction to turning acrylic or resin on a lathe, with the end product being a pen to keep that you made yourself from start to finish. Previous turning or woodworking experience is helpful but definitely not required. We cover the basics of safety, the parts of a lathe, lathe tools, and accessories, as well as everything you need to start making acrylic or resin pens, bottle stoppers, Christmas ornaments, and other turned creations! During the five hour class, students in the class will learn how to select and cut pen blanks, drill and mount the blanks on the lathe, turn the pen barrels, wet sand, and assemble a pen. And the skills learned in this class will easily transfer to other spindle turning classes or projects. *Students who have taken the previous pen blank casting class and will be using their own blank will receive a $10.00 Woodcraft Gift Card*

Bring Your Own Materials - Turning Session

Monday, April 28, 12 AM - 3 PM

*Students MUST have prior lathe experience. * Would you like to turn some pens or bowls, but you don’t have the tools? Would you like to try some different techniques, but aren’t comfortable trying it on your own? This is the perfect chance for you to be able to use a lathe and have someone available to lend a helping hand, if needed. Students can reserve a 3 hour slot on one of our classroom lathes to turn whatever projects they want. Students must have some prior turning experience. Tuition includes: Use of lathe, turning tools (carbide or traditional), safety equipment (mask, glasses, ear plugs), and some consumables (glue, sandpaper, finish) and Jody’s expertise. Students must provide any wood, turning kits, pen kits, pen blanks, etc. These can be purchased from the store or brought from home.

Intermediate Cabinet Making

Part 1: Saturday, May 3, 9 AM - 5 PM

Part 2: Sunday, May 4, 9 AM - 5 PM

Take your woodworking to the next level in this cabinet making class! This class is designed for the intermediate woodworker, or one with some experience in woodworking. This is a two part class, building over two days. You will learn new skills and techniques to add to your toolbox in this class! You will go home with a multipurpose cabinet and the knowledge to build it in your own shop!

Basic Bowl Turning

Tuesday, May 6, 10 AM - 3 PM

Whether you're a beginner or someone wanting to brush up on your turning skills, this basic bowl turning class is for you! This class will cover shop safety and the proper use of a lathe by making a basic bowl from start to finish. To minimize drying times so that the student can finish their bowl in a reasonable amount of time, we will be using dried bowl blanks. We will also discuss various finishes to add some personalization to your bowl. Once finished, you will be able to enjoy your bowl for years to come. Note: This class utilizes Easy Wood Tools with carbide cutters. If you prefer classic High Speed Steel (HSS) tools, bring your own or inquire within when attending class.

Stop in Thursday, May 8th from 4pm to 6pm for our free Turn N' Learn demo! This month's instructor is Bob Henrickson, showing us some tricks for turning flowers! No reservation needed!

Wood and Epoxy Cheese Board

Part 1: Saturday, May 10, 12 AM - 4 PM

Part 2: Sunday, May 11, 11 AM - 4 PM

In this two-day class, students will learn a variety of skills while creating their own beach themed board! It can be used as a charcuterie board, cheese board, or art for display! In the first workshop, Josh will teach basics of epoxy, and students will learn mixing/pouring skills and design techniques. During the second workshop, students will learn how to cut and finish their cured product. The instructor will walk students through shaping, planing, sanding and polishing their artwork from start to finish.

Turning 103: Wood and Epoxy Hybrid Vase

Part 1: Saturday, May 17, 1 PM - 4 PM

*This is an advanced turning class. Previous experience is required* Unlock the beauty of Australian burls and transform them into stunning, one-of-a-kind pieces of art in this hands-on woodworking class. In this class, you’ll learn the process of casting Australian burls in resin, preserving their intricate grain patterns and unique features. Once your castings are set, you'll move on to the exciting step of turning them into elegant, small vases using a lathe. By the end of the class, you’ll have a finished piece you can be proud of, and the confidence to continue exploring the world of resin casting and wood turning. Turning 102: Turning Wooden Platters

Saturday, June 21, 10 AM - 3 PM

*SOME TURNING EXPERIENCE IS RECOMMENDED* Students who take this class will learn how to apply bowl turning basics to the world of platter turning! Some of the specific techniques covered in this session include: proper chucking techniques, designing and laying out the project, tool selection, sanding, and applying finishes.
