The course covers everything from understanding wood grains to creating seamless joints.

Introductory Woodturning - Turning A Bowl

Saturday, May 10, 10 AM - 3 PM

Explore the fascinating world of woodturning and create a stunning wooden bowl—no prior experience needed! In this class, you'll learn to craft a beautiful bowl from wood using a lathe. The process is both fulfilling and calming, as you transform a piece of wood into a functional bowl. Guided by our instructor, you'll start by mastering the basics of wood lathe operation and safety. Once you're comfortable with the equipment, you'll choose and prepare the wood for turning. With the wood securely mounted on the lathe, you'll use a variety of carbide tools to shape your bowl. By the end of the class, you'll have a gorgeous, hand-turned bowl to proudly display! Plus, you'll gain the skills and knowledge to continue woodturning on your own.

Beginning Pen Turning

Saturday, May 17, 11 AM - 2 PM

This class offers a wonderful introduction to woodturning, guiding you through the process of creating a pen from start to finish. You’ll learn about safety, the parts of a lathe, and the necessary tools and accessories. The three-hour session covers selecting and cutting wood pen blanks, drilling, mounting, turning, finishing, and assembling a pen. Plus, the skills you gain can be applied to other projects like magic wands, hair sticks, and Christmas ornaments.
