Fine Furniture Making 102: End Table

Our Fine Furniture Series is designed to help students gain confidence in their ability to create beautiful pieces of furniture that will last for generations. While the series does incorporate power tools, it focuses on developing hand tool skills, to include sharpening and using smoothing planes, bench chisels, and card scrapers. In this particular session, students will spend four days honing their skills by building an heirloom quality end table featuring traditional joinery techniques like double tusk tenon, half-lap dovetail, and half-blind dovetails. Students will also receive hands-on practice with making and applying banding, inlay, and cockbead molding. With a smaller class size, students can be confident they will receive personalized instruction as they tackle the project and create their masterpiece. OPTIONAL UPGRADE: Students can upgrade their primary wood to Walnut for an additional $100.

Pen Turning 103: Turning Resin Pen Blanks

Students who choose to continue their pen turning journey will experience the process of de-molding and processing the blanks created in Pen Turning 102 before turning them into a beautiful, one of a kind pen!

Hand Tool 102

Tuesday, May 20, 6 PM - 9 PM

In the second part of our Hand Tool Series, students will learn the fundamental skills needed in hand-tool woodworking: planing, sawing, chopping, and paring. Students will practice these skills as they shape a Gottshall Block, a small project that will give students the skills to confidently make advanced woodworking projects by hand. NOTE: Students are encouraged to bring their own tools to use throughout this series, but it's not required.
