Beware with these, they are very easy to break at the joint where the screw meets with the bar. Have gone through 4 in the past 6 months. They also measure a max open width of 20.5" would recommend spending more money to get the better quality ones

I've purchased two of these clamps and they are as advertised. If the person who wrote the one star review had read the product description, they would have seen that the jaw opening is 44". No surprise there. The aluminum bars are made of aluminum tubing (rectangular) with wall thickness adequate for a medium duty clamp. If I ever need to 'beef up' the clamp, I could insert a wood board into the interior of the clamp (See Paul Sellers YouTube on using bar clamps on a workbench). I'm using the bar clamps instead of my old pipe clamps because (a) they are lighter (b) the surface of the bars make is easier to clamp up the desk I'm building and (c) cheaper then parallel clamps that I just don't want to invest in just yet. So, these bar clamps are much like pipe clamps without the weight and with a square top surface for glue ups. If you have pipe clamps and don't care about the weight, then these will just be the same only with the addition of the lighter aluminum. I would buy them again ... except the stores near me are out.

The sizes stated on the clamps basic are the total length of the clamp assembly , one can find the actually clamp opening at the specs , just wanted to clear that away

These clamps are excellent. Finally a clamp with precision threads and a body that does not twist. The length locking mechanism is positive and does not bind. You will throw away your pipe clamps.

These are the EXACT, and I mean exact same clamps that they sell at Harbor Freight for a fraction of the cost.

Awful! I bought 6 of these and two of them have broke over the course of 6 months. The metal brackets just snap! Spend the money for quality by purchasing a quality brand
