Handi Craft 12" Round Wood Dowel Pack 1/8"
The 5/16" wood dowels worked fine for size, so that's good. Haven't yet tested the strength of the dowels, so may have to get a stronger wood, but I was advised of that possibility at the time of purchase, so I'm satisfied with the purchase. And the employee at the store (in the Downers Grove, Il. location) was quite helpful, so that was a pleasant experience.

Handi Craft 12" Round Wood Dowel Pack 7/16"
I was nicely surprised at the good quality of these dowels. Nice selection of different species too.

I have not opened the packages yet. I ordered these through a local store. I was hoping for a mixture of wood varieties to match up with various wood types that I use in projects. I purchased two packages, and both appear to be only red oak. Disappointing, but better than the poplar wood dowels that are everywhere.
