Beginning Knife Making

with Frank Dieter

Part 1: Friday, November 15, 5 PM - 7 PM

Part 2: Saturday, November 16, 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Learn the fundamentals of knife kit construction to include shaping and installing knife handles or “scales”, custom pins, or rivets provided in the kits, sanding and finishing the handles to produce a knife you’d be proud to own or gift away. In the class you will use a drill press, bandsaw, oscillating sander, and clamps and epoxies. All materials and knife kits are included in this class of four hours over two consecutive days. Each participant will take home the knife created in this class. Please bring your own safety glasses and dust mask

Introduction To Bowl Turning

Learn the fundamentals of bowl turning. This will include bowl design, blank preparation, chucking, shaping of outside, hollowing of inside and finishing. You will also learn the proper use of bowl turning tools and how to easily sharpen them. You will be proud to take home and display or use the bowl you make in class.

Learn how to make an antique peppermill with a lathe turned wooden blank and a peppermill kit. Randy will instruct you on the complete process from wood selection to the final finish. After completing this class, you will take home a completed peppermill to show off. Soon you will be designing and making these works of functional art for family and friends.
