Learn the basics of using power tools for woodworking. You'll learn about the router, drill press, dovetail jigs, jointer, planer, band saw, and more as you create a tool box/garden tote/candle box.
Would you like to see how you would do carving a 3-dimensional figure or object? Saman is just the person to show you how to go about it, from the different tools to use to what woods to choose for your project. In this class, a 3-dimensional whimsical animal will be carved. During the class, Saman will discuss and demonstrate sharpening and honing techniques to keep your tool edges razor sharp.
Intarsia is a technique where beautiful pictures are created in wood using different species and grain patterns for contrast. In this hands-on class, each student will be creating a Koi fish out of various colored woods. The cutting is done on a scroll saw, then each individual piece is shaped using carving tools and sandpaper to create depth. Once all the pieces are cut, shaped, and sanded they are glued up on a backer board to create the picture.
The second in a continuing series of Shaper Origin Demos, learn along with Glenn Thompson as he discovers new ways to harness the amazing capabilities of the Shaper Origin. In this demo we will focus on the free hand joinery options that the Shaper opens for you.
