Introduction to Bandsaws

The band saw is a very versatile machine but sometimes requires a bit of coaxing to produce its best performance. In this class, set up adjustments, blade selection and tension, basic maintenance and various cutting techniques will be covered and demonstrated. Also, we will cover jigs, fixtures, and accessories that can make woodworking more accurate, efficient, and enjoyable. Sketches and plans will be provided to students to use with your own equipment at home. On completion of this class, you will also receive a complimentary book on the New Complete Guide to Band Saws. Safety glasses, Mask or face covering is required. Class size is limited. This class will be cancelled one week in advance if not enough students have signed up.

Have you ever wanted a fine writing instrument? Learn the tips and techniques that produce excellent results every time. You will be shown how to cut, drill, square the ends, turn, sand, apply a durable finish quickly, and then assemble the parts. Learn the fundamentals of creating a pen from wood selection, tool selection and proper lathe techniques to finishing. Soon you will be making pens for all your friends. Date Night Charcuterie Board & Cheese Knife

Do you and your significant other want to try something different on "Date Night?" Why not learn basic wood working skills and have fun creating a one-of-a-kind project together? We will provide the food, soft drinks, and materials. You only need to show up and be ready to make some saw dust. In this class you will make a charcuterie board which will involve working with a band saw, router and various sanding tools. You will also make a cheese knife which will include attaching knife scales and shaping the handle. This will involve use of a scroll saw and various sanding tools. Individuals will also learn the technique of finishing these items. Cost is $150 per couple. Safety glasses, Mask or face covering is required. Class size is limited. This class will be cancelled one week in advance if not enough students have signed up.
