In this hands-on class, each student will complete a 15" face frame style base cabinet with drawer and a Shaker-Style door. Cabinet styles and design considerations will be discussed that can be adapted for several different applications including kitchen cabinets, entertainment centers, and bookcases. Construction of the cabinet carcass, face frame and drawer will employ the Kreg Joinery system and construction of the raised panel door will utilize the traditional cope and stick method. Additional joinery techniques for the carcass, face frame, drawer and door will be discussed. You will learn the safe and proper use of the table saw, compound miter saw, router table and finishing sander as you complete the project.

Kumiko is a quiet and thoughtful technique that requires patience and precision. The ancient Japanese woodworking technique consists of making patterns from small pieces of interlocking wood. In this course, your instructor would walk you through the steps needed to create delicate pieces of art with wood. Discover how to seamlessly blend art and craftsmanship by mastering the use of geometry, patterns, and clean lines. Take your woodworking skill to the next level. By the end of the course every student will have created a small panel with a Kumiko pattern.
