Saturday, April 26, 2 PM - 6 PM

This inclusive woodworking class, led by craftsman Eric Gorges, welcomes both beginners and experienced carvers to create a beautiful spoon using the Foredom power carving tool and Kutzall burrs. Eric starts with an introduction to basic tool handling and safety, making the class accessible for those new to woodworking. More advanced carvers are encouraged to explore additional techniques and customize their spoons with intricate details. Under Eric’s guidance, participants will learn to efficiently shape their wooden blocks into custom spoons, with the Kutzall burrs offering control and creativity. Of the many dovetail systems on the market, the PC 4212 stands out in versatility, ease of use, and cost. With it, drawers, chests, book shelves and any other projects are made with ease. Each student will make a box while exploring set up, planning, and cutting joints.

Learn how to use a lathe by employing tools and techniques to turn a wood pen. Must be 18 years of age to attend. Class fee covers material to make 2 pens. Turning pens is a lot of fun and they make great gifts!

Basic Cabinet

Part 1: Saturday, May 10, 9 AM - 5 PM

The Basic Cabinet Class is a foundational woodworking course designed to equip beginners with the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to construct a Shaker style cabinet. The cabinet dimensions are 16" x 24" x 35". Throughout the course, students will learn essential techniques such as measuring, cutting, and using pocket holes to join wood to create functional and aesthetically pleasing cabinets. The curriculum covers topics including selecting appropriate tools and materials, and safely operating woodworking machinery. Under Bill Martin's guidance, participants will gain hands-on experience allowing them to develop confidence and proficiency in cabinet making. By the end of the course, students will have the skills to embark on their own cabinet-making projects with competence and creativity.

In this two day hands-on class you will construct a small wall shelf with a drawer and two shelves using basic joinery techniques. You will also gain experience in how to safely use a miter saw, table saw, bandsaw, jointer, planer, router table and sanders.
