This is an introductory class designed to familiarize students with the different types of routers, components and safety precautions. Router bit types, sizes and uses will be discussed as well as the three types of cuts that can be made. Students will make a simple project using only the router.
This class is designed to introduce you, the beginner to intermediate turner, to the basics of wood turning. The focus will be on how to safely use the lathe while having fun learning to turn. You will learn the basic parts of the lathe and various ways of securing stock to the lathe. We will go through the basics of using Carbide Tools, chucks, and drives. Each student will complete the class by turning their own french rolling pin and finishng it so that it is ready to use. You are welcome to bring you own tools. Students will be given a 45-minute break for lunch (lunches may be brought to class from home).
