This is a great class for new wood turners who are interested in bowl turning. Students will learn about lathe tools and techniques used to turn a bowl. Blank selection, faceplate and chucking techniques, bowl design and form, and finishing will be covered. Students will leave with a finished bowl. This class simplifies spoon carving from wood. The rough shape is already cut from basswood. The final shaping will be done using a carving gouge and rasp. The finished spoon can be either functional in the kitchen or a decorative piece. Different types of finishes will also be discussed.
Students will learn the proper steps to make a unique pen, from cutting and turning to finishing and final assembly. Each person will turn a pen to take home. Makes a great gift!.
