This is an intensive 5-day course focusing on electric guitar construction aimed at beginning woodworkers. The guitar body will be built from scratch using the following tools: table saw, planer, jointer, glue/clamps, drum sander, templates, bandsaw, router and router table. We will be using prefabricated necks (fretted and finished). You will fit the neck to the body by routing the neck pocket and utilize scale length to determine the placement of the bridge. Although most of the wiring is complete you will be soldering a portion of the wiring harness, installing the pickups and controls to complete the electrics. After the strings are installed, guitar set up will be discussed (intonation and action height). Note: finishes will be discussed during the course, but we will not be applying a finish during this course. Tuition: $750 – all inclusive. Minimum Age: 18 Required: Eye protection, dust mask, and hearing protection.
