Woodworking: Oval Bentwood Shaker Boxes

Sometimes simply called Shaker Boxes, you’ve probably admired these gorgeous bentwood boxes before, and here’s your chance to learn to make them! The instructor will provide the forms, the wood, and all the supplies. You just need to want to make two beautiful, nesting hardwood boxes! Tools provided by the instructor include sharp wood chisels, carving knives and small tack-type hammers. You may bring your own if you desire. Each student is responsible for supplying their own safety glasses and hearing protection.

Kid's Class: Turn A Harry Potter Wand

Join us in creating a Harry Potter wand. This is a spindle turning class but with a Magical Twist. In this fun class, you will also learn the basics of woodturning, turning a square block into a round spindle, while adding creative coves and beads. You will learn the proper techniques for using basic turning tools, gouges and parting tools. Tools provided by the instructor include a sharp 1/2in spindle gouge and a sharp 3/16in parting tool. You may bring your own if you desire. Each student is responsible for supplying their own safety glasses and hearing protection.

CNC I - An Introduction

If you have ever wanted to learn more about CNC machines then this is the class for you. This lecture class utilizes the Shark CNC Machine and VCarve Software. The instructor will start with the basics; how to set up a Shark CNC machine, what the display commands mean, and VCarve software setup. You will learn how to use the VCarve software including setting the work piece size and understanding the basic Icons. You will learn about designing objects, creating toolpaths, and saving your work. Each student is responsible for supplying their own personal laptop loaded with VCarve Pro Trial. Download VCarve Pro Trial at vectric.com/free-trial/vcarve-pro. This is a lecture class. The CNC machine will not be used during this class.
