Learn various techniques needed to turn a bowl. This class deals with the use of the lathe chuck, hollowing techniques and final finishing of your project. This course is designed for the beginner to intermediate turner who wants to get a good foundation on bowl turning. Turn your first bowl or sharpen your skills and take home your handcrafted bowl.
Sharp tools make all the difference. In this beginner-friendly, hands-on class, you'll learn the fundamentals of sharpening chisels and hand planes so they cut cleanly and efficiently. We'll cover everything from setting the correct angle to creating a polished edge you can maintain at home. Tution includes a Veritas Deluxe MK.II Honing Guide, one of most versatile and acccurate sharpening systems available. You'll leave class with sharp tools in hand, the confidence to repeat the process on your own, and a professional-grade guide that will serve you for years. Please bring 1 of your own chisel and hand plane you'd like to sharpen. No prior sharpening experience required.
In this workshop you will learn the basics of chip carving, including how to sharpen and hold the knife, as well as proper layout. In this one-day course you will also learn how to carve simple geometric shapes. You will leave with the knowledge and confidence to go home and begin carving.
