Learn terminology of the lathe and lathe chisels. Understand the three basic cuts in woodturning that will be the foundation of all your woodturning. Practice turning skills, body positions and movements for the development of good and safe turning practices. Apply what you learn and making a small project such as a honey dipper, weed pot, tool handle, Christmas ornament if time permits.
Create a beautiful writing instrument. In this class you will learn all of the steps necessary to turn a pen including preparing the blank and tube, turning the body, finishing and assembly. You will go home with the pen you've turned. All tools and materials are supplied and no prior turning experience is required.
This two-day class will show you how to build this hall table. From gluing up the top to the joinery and final assembly, you will learn all the techniques and methods necessary to construct this beautiful piece of furniture. The first day will be spent fabricating the top including grain matching, gluing and clamping strategies. Also, the legs and aprons will be cut to length and the joinery completed. The second day you will cut the top to final dimensions and profile the edges. The legs will be tapered, and the entire table will be dry fit and then glued up. At the end of the class, you will take home your table to final sand and finish in your shop.
