Learn how to set-up the handheld router and router table to make different types of cuts that are used in making furniture, cabinets, boxes and other woodworking. These techniques will be used to demonstrate several project examples. This class is valuable for everyone from the beginner to the more experienced woodworker wanting to brush up on his or her router and router table skills

Kumiko Tea Box

Kumiko is a quiet and thoughtful technique that requires patience and precision. The ancient Japanese woodworking technique consists of making patterns from small pieces of interlocking wood. In this course, your instructor would walk you through the steps needed to create delicate pieces of art with wood. Discover how to seamlessly blend art and craftsmanship by mastering the use of geometry, patterns, and clean lines. Take your woodworking skill to the next level. By the end of the course every student will have created a small tea box with a Kumiko pattern on the lid.

Wood Carving

In Out of My Mind Carving with Steve Wilensky, participants will learn from a master carver with a unique talent for revealing whimsical characters hidden within any piece of wood. Steve’s approach is all about creativity and intuition—guiding each student to carve out the figure that “wants to come out” of the wood. The day begins with an overview of essential skills, including how to handle, manipulate, and keep carving tools sharp while prioritizing safety. With Steve’s expert guidance, students will enjoy the peaceful rhythm of carving, allowing their imaginations to shape delightful, one-of-a-kind characters.
