Wooden Inlay Ring

with Passang Bhote

Friday, July 5, 6 PM - 9 PM

This class is a great way for you to learn to make your own wooden inlay rings, using the lathe and your own scrap wood. Ring sizes are required upon signing up for the class so if the store doesn't have them we can get them ordered for you (if we have to order your size, make sure to allow time to come in)! The instructor will bring several types of inlay species to choose from, to make your ring unique! Each student will come away with some familiarity with using a mandrel and bushings on a lathe, as well as some basic jewelry inlay techniques, not to mention their own beautiful ring, and the knowledge to make more! The ring blank cost is not included in the class, each student will need to purchase the ring blank and a 10% discount will be applied. You will then need to bring it to the class with you.

Intro To Pyrography

with Christian Casas

Saturday, July 6, 12 PM - 3 PM

Learn to create decorative designs with a wood-burning tool in this beginner-friendly class. Christian Casas will lead you through the steps from strategy to execution of your first piece. Learn how to prepare a wooden surface, transfer a design, and use a wood-burning tool to create lines and color on a wooden object. In this class, I will teach you how to use an essential pyrography tool to turn a simple fern design into a beautiful piece of wood-burned art. You will learn about the required tools and materials and how to use everything safely. We’ll go through some types of surfaces you can burn on, different burners and nibs, how to transfer the design onto the wood, burning techniques, and what finishes to use to seal and protect your art. This class is suitable for beginners; no prior experience is necessary. All materials and machines are PROVIDED for this class. If you decide to purchase any equipment used in the class (new) there would be a 10% discount. Pyrography is a beautiful craft suitable for all skill levels. You can use it to create many different items for yourself or gifts for others: jewelry, photo frames, furniture, wall decor, candle holders, wedding decor, memorial pieces… The list goes on! It also doesn’t have to be about the finished work, as the nature of burning is a great mindfulness practice - if you get a beautiful piece of art at the end, then that’s a bonus!
