Jim is our resident hand tool expert. He will show the students how to layout and cut dovetails using hand tools. The process is not as hard as one would think, and the students will go home with the confidence to create a box or drawer made the old fashion way, by hand. This class is designed to enhance your turning skills, hollowing skills, creativity, decorating skills and sharpening skills. Each student will be taught the step-by-step procrdure of forming and the hollowing technique of the two-piece hollow form. Tools required for this class: Face shield, dust mask, 12" ruler, 3/8" fingernail spindle gouge, 1/2" fingernail bowl gouge, 1/2" skew chisel, 3/16 parting tool, 1/16" parting tool, bowl calipers, Easywood Midi Hollower #1 (optional).
