In this class, you will learn to make advanced decorative wooden pen blanks, focusing on a “3D box illusion” style. In the class, you will make two blanks and turn an appropriate pen, finishing using a classic CA finish. The instructor and designer, Steve Johnson, has won recognition for his work with a place in the International Association of Penturners Collection.
Some experience in turning and finishing pens is highly recommended, as the focus of the class is on the creation of the pen blanks.

Week one will focus on resin casting basics including resin types, colorants, molds, and pressure pots. You’ll select colorants, mix your resin and pour it into the mold. Then, in week two, you will come back to the shop to de-mold your pen blank, drill it, insert the tubes and turn your pen!
