Intro To the Woodshop

Part 1: Saturday, June 29, 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Part 2: Sunday, June 30, 10 AM - 4 PM

Are you new to woodworking? Want to brush up on basic skills? The Instructor will teach how to safely use the essential power tools in any woodshop. Students will learn how to set up cuts and operate a table saw, planer, jointer, band saw, miter saw, and drill press. These skills will be put into practice to create a charcuterie board which can proudly be shown off to family and friends. On day two go beyond the basics and create a beautiful slide top keepsake box! You will practice skills learned in order to gain confidence using essential power tools. Use this foundation to accomplish your woodworking project goals.

Hybrid Workshop:Handmade Jewelry Box

Saturday, July 6, 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM

This class, inspired by Tom Caspar’s Unplugged Workshop, will teach you the key fundamentals of using five hand tools as well as two critical power tools while building a simple jewelry box out of Cherry wood. Students will learn about the lumber milling process and how to dimension parts using a table saw, a band saw, a smoothing plane, a Japanese pull saw, a block plane, a card scraper, and a spokeshave.

CNC Cribbage Board

Sunday, July 7, 10 AM - 2 PM

This is a beginner CNC class where students will use Vectric V-carve to import a file, prepare to be cut on a CNC router and cut it out. You will take home the cribbage board you made at the end of the class
